So Long, Matheson
George P. Tsetsekos, Ph.D., dean of Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, will host a Farewell Matheson Fete on Friday, May 6, to toast the fall of Matheson Hall. Drexel alumni, friends, faculty and staff will gather in the shadow of the iconic brick building from 4 to 7 p.m. for an afternoon of hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and music. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their “Matheson Memories” on a life-sized card and bid a final farewell to Matheson Hall. Slated for demolition this summer, Matheson Hall will be replaced by a 12-story, 177,500 square-foot business center that will house a five-story high atrium enclosed by classrooms, lounges, event spaces and offices — a structure that will surely change the face of Drexel University and Market Street. “While we will miss Matheson Hall, the new, state-of-the-art building will be a meeting place for business leaders and scholars, both among the Drexel LeBow community and the Philadelphia business community,” Tsetsekos says. “Our new building enables us to usher in a new age here at Drexel LeBow.” The event will be moved to the first floor of Matheson Hall in the event of inclement weather.
